Term 3 2018
Another busy term is coming to an end and we want to once again thank you for all of the hard work you are putting into your students learning. We know how busy life can be so really appreciate the time you all take to work through homework each week with your child. As we often say, the students who complete homework usually make great progress on our programme.
We are aware many students get to experience many exciting outdoor opportunities during term 4, please be mindful of informing your child’s tutor as soon as you know if there are any timetable clashes.
New Branches for Learning Support
LS is continuing to go from strength to strength; we now have more tutors in Wanaka/Queenstown and Blenheim to help with our waitlist in these areas and also have new branches opening in Dunedin and Nelson. If you have family or friends in these regions please pass on our details, we’d love to be able to help them.
Spelling Homework Routine Video
We have recently created a video to share with our LS families which shows you how to support your child with their spelling homework. The strategy we use is a form of neuro-linguistic programming which is proven to help students with learning difficulties remember spelling words they are learning. Your child’s tutor will send you the link to this video and we encourage all parents to watch it as a reminder of the process that is best used to support with spelling homework.
Please ensure that your child is healthy when they come to their tutoring sessions. We know there are lots of colds going around and we dont mind students with minor sniffles coming, but if your child has been vomiting or is off school with a fever, please do not send them to tutoring. Our tutors work in close proximity to their students and all have their own families and busy lives. We want to help keep everyone as healthy as possible.
Finishing tutoring at the end of Term 4
As we head towards the end of another year, we want to ask that all parents let their tutors know by the end of Week 3 of Term 4 (Friday 2nd October) if their child is continuing with tutoring for 2019. If your child is continuing we will hold their current tutoring slot for them for Term 1 2019. Please also let your tutor know if your child is moving schools (especially those who are tutored at school) and may need to change tutoring times. We cannot guarantee that we can provide a new tutoring time, but we will do our best to accomodate all of our current students.
